I was hanging out with a friend of mine in Atlantic Station a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at the number of women I saw walking around casually with their 4 inch spike heels. The question surfaced, "Is it possible to be cute without destroying your body?" The answer is yes! But what I want to share with you is how we women are slowly destroying our bodies by the simple act of wearing high heels 5 or more days a week.

Have you ever received a compliment from someone you didn’t know? Have you ever given a compliment unexpected and noticed the joy that spread across the person’s face? Often, we get into our own little world and we forget the impact that just one "thank you" or acknowledgement or compliment can mean to someone else. We never know how someone’s day is going.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

Sometimes it’s hard to know when to set the final boundary in friendships and relationships before releasing people. The truth is there is no perfect formula to when to let go of someone you love when the relationship is no longer working for you. The simplest question however is to ask yourself, "Is this healthy for me?" If the answer is no, then you might consider setting the final limit for your friend or loved one for behavior shift before moving on. Warning: There is a difference between boundaries set for your own serenity and mental well-being and ultimatums set to control another person. Let’s look more closely at this.

You Are What You Eat: The Importance of Reading Labels

That crazy old adage "you are what you eat" actually has some validity in this day and age. Many of the foods sold on our grocer’s aisles are filled with preservatives, added salt and sugar. And for those of us who are sensitive to additives such as Monosodium glutamate (MSG), or red and yellow dyes this can really affect the relative condition of your sensitivity.

Since the tragedy in Japan we have had numerous reports of radiation leakage and detection spanning as far into the US as California, Alabama, and parts of the East Coast. I have received numerous questions on what to do naturally for radiation exposure and to protect oneself from such. I’ve come across several articles, and thought it would be prudent to share my research on what I’ve found.

The trending topic now is how to make your body more alkaline. Another more popular topic is juicing. So a lot of these have great detox and cleansing element, and they will help to make your body more alkaline so you can help to fight off infections and just keep your body in a healthy state.

How many times have you said to yourself or someone else "I know I was supposed to do so and so, but life got in the way." I hear it all to often. In fact, I say it all to often. This weekend I participated in some Communication work with the Landmark Education Center here in Atlanta, and I really got clear that I was setting the stage for all of the relationships in my life by how I was communicating. I really got that I was the one who was creating powerful communication is some areas and chaotic communication in others; I was not a victim of Life, I was creating it.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

Sometimes we lose our sense of individuality in our relationships. In our attempts to love and care for our significant others (and even our families after marriage) some may have the tendency slowly let go of the things in our lives that are important to us. Ask yourself, what do I do on a daily basis for myself? How do I make myself a priority on a regular basis.

Be 100% Responsible for Your Career

b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png

In the month of January, we’re taking 100 percent responsibility for our lives and our happiness. This week we’re challenged to bring that principle to our careers and the workplace. Are you happy with what you do at work? Do you bring a passion to the workplace? Are you satisfied with your career choice? Are you financially satisfied with where you are in your company? If you answered “no,” to any of these, it might be time for a change. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go and quit your job or close your business. It just means it’s time to think of ways to bring more fulfillment into what you do. Create a passion, so to speak. If you must be at work for eight to ten hours a day, you may as well love what you do. Much like with your spouses or significant others, your career is like a marriage.

In life we will encounter loss. It may be the loss of a loved one or friend, or the loss of a job, house, marriage. It even may be the loss of a dream or fantasy. In either of these cases we go through this process called grief. Many people because of society pressures or even family or self-imposed pressures mask or hide our grief to appear "strong". The truth is that this is natural process and everyone experiences grief in their own way. Before I get into the different ways people process grief, let me share with the the stages that people can go through during this grieving process.

We’re focusing on stress management and work/life balance. This week I’m asking you to engage in acts of self-love and self-care. I’m asking you to pamper yourself. I want you to do one self-care act per day. It doesn’t have to be a super expensive act. It could be as simple as taking a hot bath with candles and music, taking time to read before you go to bed, going to get a manicure or a pedicure, get your hair cut or done, but whatever it is, take time to pamper yourself this week.

image
b2ap3_thumbnail_heart378.png
b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png

GABA is a neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that are produced in the brain that allow the nerve cells to communicate with each other. They have a lot to do with regulating the mood and the different systems of the body. There are two types of neurotransmitters - those that excite things and those that inhibit, or slow down, things. GABA falls into the category of relaxation, or inhibitory, neurotransmitters. So what is GABA, what does it do?
