How many times have you said to yourself or someone else "I know I was supposed to do so and so, but life got in the way." I hear it all to often. In fact, I say it all to often. This weekend I participated in some Communication work with the Landmark Education Center here in Atlanta, and I really got clear that I was setting the stage for all of the relationships in my life by how I was communicating. I really got that I was the one who was creating powerful communication is some areas and chaotic communication in others; I was not a victim of Life, I was creating it.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

Sometimes we lose our sense of individuality in our relationships. In our attempts to love and care for our significant others (and even our families after marriage) some may have the tendency slowly let go of the things in our lives that are important to us. Ask yourself, what do I do on a daily basis for myself? How do I make myself a priority on a regular basis.

b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png

In the month of January, we’re taking 100 percent responsibility for our lives and our happiness. This week we’re challenged to bring that principle to our careers and the workplace. Are you happy with what you do at work? Do you bring a passion to the workplace? Are you satisfied with your career choice? Are you financially satisfied with where you are in your company? If you answered “no,” to any of these, it might be time for a change. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go and quit your job or close your business. It just means it’s time to think of ways to bring more fulfillment into what you do. Create a passion, so to speak. If you must be at work for eight to ten hours a day, you may as well love what you do. Much like with your spouses or significant others, your career is like a marriage.

In either of these cases we go through this process called grief. Many people because of society pressures or even family or self-imposed pressures mask or hide our grief to appear "strong". We’re focusing on stress management and work/life balance. This week I’m asking you to engage in acts of self-love and self-care. I’m asking you to pamper yourself. I want you to do one self-care act per day. It doesn’t have to be a super expensive act. It could be as simple as taking a hot bath with candles and music, taking time to read before you go to bed, going to get a manicure or a pedicure, get your hair cut or done, but whatever it is, take time to pamper yourself this week.

GABA is a neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that are produced in the brain that allow the nerve cells to communicate with each other. They have a lot to do with regulating the mood and the different systems of the body. There are two types of neurotransmitters - those that excite things and those that inhibit, or slow down, things. GABA falls into the category of relaxation, or inhibitory, neurotransmitters. So what is GABA, what does it do?
