This simple dish of roasted beets and quinoa is packed with good-for-you ingredients, plus it will give you a power boost of protein and iron. Quinoa is one of the most protein-rich foods we can eat, and if you're cutting back on or eliminating meat from your diet then swap in more of this delicious grain. This dish is excellent served as a side or in a salad. We love it on a bed of lightly dressed arugula! Enjoy!!

Be 100% Responsible for Your Career

b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png

In the month of January, we’re taking 100 percent responsibility for our lives and our happiness. This week we’re challenged to bring that principle to our careers and the workplace. Are you happy with what you do at work? Do you bring a passion to the workplace? Are you satisfied with your career choice? Are you financially satisfied with where you are in your company? If you answered “no,” to any of these, it might be time for a change. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go and quit your job or close your business. It just means it’s time to think of ways to bring more fulfillment into what you do. Create a passion, so to speak. If you must be at work for eight to ten hours a day, you may as well love what you do. Much like with your spouses or significant others, your career is like a marriage.

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand, manage, and communicate emotions in a way that is both positive and effective in the world. Emotional literacy is the communicate part of that definition. If we are unable to communicate clearly, honestly, and respectfully our feelings, then we will be left unsatisfied, unheard, and frustrated. Our language is powerful, and it is through this language that we create openings for connection and intimacy in our lives. Let’s look at some components of becoming more emotionally literate.

Are there any natural treatments for fibroids?

image
b2ap3_thumbnail_heart378.png
b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png

I have treated many women naturally for fibroids and here is primarily what we focus on. The first thing we do is look at the diet. Are you eating a lot of meats that are pumped with hormones? That can definitely contribute to the fibroids because the fibroids, basically, are tumors of the uterus of the womb that are sensitive to hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. So if you are eating a lot of meats that are not organic in nature, they likely have hormones, pesticides and antibiotics which are inflammatory in nature and can be contributing to your fibroids. If not eliminating those meats altogether, buy organic meats only. I personally recommend getting rid of all meats except fish that are wild and not farm raised.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

Are you aware of your body’s unique need for movement? You are already constantly in motion whether you are aware of it or not. The heart pumps 60-100 beats per minute, you breath at 12-16 breaths every minute, the nerves in your body are constantly firing, and even when you are sleeping there is movement…of the eyes, of the muscles. You are never really still, until you are dead. So why not honor the bodies need to be in motion? What negative experiences have you associated with exercise?

What's the best way to reduce sugar in my diet?

image
b2ap3_thumbnail_heart378.png
b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png

Join the crowd, we all have a sweet tooth :) How can we begin to eliminate sugar from our diet? The reality is that it may be impossible to remove sugar from our diet. That is unworkable and non-sustainable. What we can do is to minimize sugar and to eat the healthy sugars, so that we aren't craving the processed and unhealthy inflammatory sugars that are out there in our diet.

Stevia: The Natural Sweetener That Could Help You Achieve Complete Wellness

b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

We know that many of the sugars included in our foods today are considered to be some of the worst additions to our diet. Too much sugar in a modern day can result in a whole catalog of preventable illnesses and ailments that would have been reduced had a natural substitute for sugar been used. Stevia could well be this product. 'Stevia rebaudiana' is a plant which grows naturally in Peru and other subtropical ecosystems in South America, and is used as a natural sweetener for health and weight management. Studies have shown that stevia's natural sugars are non-caloric, they are around 300 times sweeter than regular sugar, and they do not produce of the health problems associated with artificial sweeteners, which include diabetes, obesity and even depression.

Noticing Your Senses

image

b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png
b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

We have five senses: touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing. How many times a day do we stop and appreciate all five of these senses? How likely are we to notice our sense of touch unless there is an unpleasant one such as pain or extreme heat or cold? How often is our sense of hearing dulled by constant background noise of people talking, phones ringing, copiers running? How often do we just look up and notice all of the brilliant colors in our place of work or even outside our window? Do you stop to taste your food or do you simply inhale it down so that you can get on with your busy day? The answers to these questions should bring you to an acute awareness of what you might be missing!

Estrogen and progesterone are two of the most important hormones in a woman's body. I was hanging out with a friend of mine in Atlantic Station a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at the number of women I saw walking around casually with their 4 inch spike heels. The question surfaced, "Is it possible to be cute without destroying your body?" The answer is yes! But what I want to share with you is how we women are slowly destroying our bodies by the simple act of wearing high heels 5 or more days a week.

Have you ever received a compliment from someone you didn’t know? Have you ever given a compliment unexpected and noticed the joy that spread across the person’s face? Often, we get into our own little world and we forget the impact that just one "thank you" or acknowledgement or compliment can mean to someone else. We never know how someone’s day is going.

Mend It or End It: When to Say When in Your Relationship

image
b2ap3_thumbnail_food.png
b2ap3_thumbnail_women8.png
b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

Sometimes it’s hard to know when to set the final boundary in friendships and relationships before releasing people. The truth is there is no perfect formula to when to let go of someone you love when the relationship is no longer working for you. The simplest question however is to ask yourself, "Is this healthy for me?" If the answer is no, then you might consider setting the final limit for your friend or loved one for behavior shift before moving on. Warning: There is a difference between boundaries set for your own serenity and mental well-being and ultimatums set to control another person. Let’s look more closely at this.

You Are What You Eat: The Importance of Reading Labels

image

b2ap3_thumbnail_Wellness-Blueprint.jpg

That crazy old adage "you are what you eat" actually has some validity in this day and age. Many of the foods sold on our grocer’s aisles are filled with preservatives, added salt and sugar. And for those of us who are sensitive to additives such as Monosodium glutamate (MSG), or red and yellow dyes this can really affect the relative condition of your sensitivity.
