This week, Dr. Latifat Akintade and I took the conversation to another level as we talked about money and finances, what we do that block all the possibilities of wealth and what we should do to open ourselves to more opportunities.

[03:58] Getting our money right

The uncomfortable process of learning how to get our money right. The reason why a lot of us struggle when it comes to money has nothing to do with numbers – the actual method is the easy part. However, the shame, emotions and mind blocks are a different story – nobody wants to tell anybody that they are broke and that they worry about money at night. No matter what profession we're in, there's an external, societal expectation that at a certain age, we have to have gotten our stuff together.

[07:45] Struggles when it comes to getting our money right

Our society plays a big role as to how we struggle getting our money right from our families to the people who don't even know who we are. We are in a post-colonization world where we're taught that one thing is right and one thing isn't. And the effect is still here. We are unlearning now but some of our parents didn't

have the luxury of the internet space where they could leverage the level of this conversation.

[13:45] Saying yes to abundance of wealth

When we think our job is our only source of income, we are saying no to abundance of wealth. Many people think to earn money, we have to trade time for it on a one-to-one ratio. This is another lie that we are told. Our parents grow up in a different time where talking about money was not a thing. As X generation, we are waking up to a realization that there is something more. That it is possible to create multiple streams of income.

[18:18] Stopping "buts" and start thinking "maybe", and "what if"

Thinking "maybe" helps us open our minds into endless possibilities. Instead of saying but, say "maybe". And then when we're there, then we can start thinking "what" instead of "how". There's something beautiful about dreaming. Imagining ourselves and getting the feeling of excitement thinking about being financially free. Then the excitement will motivate us to keep going.
