When You Are Feeling Lost, Remember This
One of the reasons that mindfulness is so effective is that it helps people get control over their state. Now, when I say state, I mean mental state and emotional state. Most of us know by now that the decisions that are made out of anger, sadness, fear, guilt, and hurt are not likely the same decisions we would make if we had a centered mind. Decisions that you make when you are in a scattered mental state, unfocused, or tired, are sometimes not the best.
However, if you take the case that we have all the resources we need to succeed, then you know that in your best states (emotional and mental focused and empowered) is when you produce your best ideas and results.
There Are No Unresourceful People, Just Unresourceful States.
When you are not performing at your best, you can take a step back and look deeper and ask yourself
- What is really going on?
- What am I feeling?
- What is the conversation happening in my head?
And when someone ELSE is not at their best, you can ask the same thing. We often do this with our children but we don't give adults that same grace.
When my son is hungry, he is irritable, fussy, and gets frustrated super easy. When he is super tired, he is whiny, wired and often clingy. I have learned when I see these cues to ask him "are you hungry? Are you tired?" And he tells the truth. I am still learning to do this with my adult friends... LOL
Observe your own internal states (mental and emotional). How are you different when you are happy vs angry vs irritated?
Similarly, observe the people in your life. When do they communicate out of character? Is there something going on in their lives?
Ready for positive belief change? Ready to get rid of the negative emotions, limiting beliefs and self doubt standing in the way of you living your best life?
